Skype Me™!

I was fluent in English as early as back in high school. I graduated from the Moscow Institute of Railway Engineers, Russia, with a diploma in Systems Analysis, Automated Control Systems. My engineering background has helped a lot in my interpreting/translating career. Parallel to that part of my education, I was brushing up my English and learning the craft of interpreting/translation (which is something different from just being fluent in a foreign language).

With time, I came to realize that my trade was not so much about rendering from one language into another, but helping people bridge the many gaps that separate them, not just the linguistic one. It’s all about people, not words. Yet, words ought to be precise, too.

I have done simultaneous interpreting since 1996, consecutive interpreting, since 1987,
and written translation, since 1984.

I have been a freelance interpreter/translator for the World Bank Moscow Resident Mission since 1994. Besides working at the expert level, I have interpreted at high-level meetings with government.

I do regular conference interpreting jobs for the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO and large international / Russian firms / banks.

I was part of the conference interpreters’ teams at G8 meetings in Moscow in 2006 and the EU-Russia Industrialists’ Round Table in Helsinki in 2006.
